An accomplished player, Tara represented Ireland at the senior level for 13 years during the 1990s and 2000s, competing in 5 World Championships and 7 European Championships. She is a multiple National Champion in both singles and doubles, having won all domestic titles at least once. In the latter part of her playing career, she competed in the German Oberliga for SC Urania in Hamburg.
Tara has worked extensively at all levels, currently focusing on schools through the Women in Sport initiative, where she delivers Young Leadership Programs to students. She serves as the TTI Performance Manager and is part of the National Coaching team, leading training sessions for national squads. Since January 2024, she has also joined the TTI Para Coaching team, supporting para athletes at training camps and events.
